Re: Morgan dollars
I don't think I have ever bought a Morgan on Ebay. I shop there often but they are best seen in person. When I first bought some Morgan dollars which may have been in 9th grade in 2002 I would only see some worn ones but back then CC was at least affordable but to me not very interesting. Then some bags of coins sitting around in South American banks got brought back to USA and now there are a wide variety of AU/BU/UNC Morgans floating around in the US Dollar $35-80 price range sometimes in an NGC or PCGS holder. 1921 is typically very easy to find in high grade however you want to look at them in person and with some good lighting to see if it has been cleaned or polished.
This year I started collecting the O Morgans which are minted in New Orleans. I got interested in such things after finding out what dollars could be spent on back in the day whilst watching the film Pretty Baby. My first start came with an MS 60+ collection of O 1898, 1899, 1900, 1901, and 1902 Morgans in a Capital holder from a local coin shop. SInce then I just hunt for them at coin shows. The British seem to like them well enough that I read about them at least once a month on TSF. Personally I would rather be buying 2 1/2 Guldens but date for date Morgans are so much cheaper. Such as 1898 O Morgan versus 1898 Rijksdaalder.
