Description
Puebla de Cazalla copper 10 Centimos ND (1936), KM1, MS62 BN NGC (noted as 1937 on the grading insert), a beautiful example of this local token, struck for this town in Andalusia, in southwest Spain not far from Seville, the design simple but intriguing, the so-called Falange symbol (yoke with a clutch of arrows) of the Catholic kings, on left obverse, and legends reading "Currency of the Town" and "Year of Victory" in Spanish. A Nationalist issue created during the difficult, bloody years of the Spanish Civil War (1936-39). Chocolate-brown surfaces with no really noticeable marks, a sharp and appealing example. Only 1500 struck, most of which were used for currency. Rare.
